Hiya all - something special today!
Fic site update! .....no, really!
The cut has a very long, detailed description of what's going on and how to use Livejournal for those people who are coming from the fic site (who had not yet realized that we have this ficlog). Y'all can probably skim most of it, but you might want to read the status list for the fanfics, if you wanted to know what's happening with any of those. You might also want to read the part of the update that says what's actually been, y'know, updated. ^_^;;;
Two important announcements for you guys before we get to the other stuff:
1) For anyone who emails us, our e-mail address has changed. The account we had was just riddled with spam. It's now kandkfics at fatalistic dot net rather than just knkfics.
2) After much deliberation, I posted Fallen Into Grace to the ficlog. I don't think it's really fair to you guys that you can have #2 and 3 in the trilogy but not the first, and it's not so close to publication that it would be a big deal. Several people have asked to reread it, so I posted it and tagged it, and you can find it here. Ta da~! Now onto the rest of the stuff.
06/21/2006
Okay, folks, let's kick it into gear.
First off: we are not dead. Amazing, huh? Real life snuck up on us, mugged us, and left us bleeding in a back alley. It's been a while, we know. We're still here.
Many, many, many people have asked about the original fiction and where it went. These people apparently did not check the udpates page, where we told you. ^_^;;; As I forgot to actually add the date on the main page, this is probably at least partially my fault. But let me cap the highlights for you: due to a combination of issues regarding a) plagiarism, b) pre-publishing, and c) paranoia, all original fiction has come down.
Many of you have probably noticed by now that you have been redirected to a Livejournal entry, rather than our usual updates page. (Of course, many of you probably came from the LJ, but that's okay.) This is where all original fiction is being posted. It is under a friends lock, however, so if you want to read it, please follow these simple steps:
1) Get a Livejournal account, if you do not already have one. They're free.
2) Leave a comment on this entry asking to be friended.
3) Check back a few hours later. Make sure you are logged in. There will be a ton of entries that weren't here before. They consist of all the original fiction you've been missing! Yay!
Here is what is actually put up in this update:
Drabbles. Yes, sirree, drabbles. Two for Yami no Matsuei, two for Naruto, one Saiyuki, one Bleach, one Firefly. These have been written over the course of the past two years and I'm finally getting around to posting them. Of course, we also did a pretty new layout. ^_^ Most of those drabbles are on the miscellaneous fanfiction page, which is also where Blood Bind, our CCS fic, has been moved to. Also, new fic recs.
Also: OMG A CHAPTER OF VALLEY. Yes! Chapter 13 of Though I Walk Through the Valley is up! I'll finish that fic or die trying!
Also also: we have changed e-mail addresses, as our old one was riddled with spam. It's now kandkfics at fatalistic dot net. But honestly, folks, I don't answer e-mail. I'm *hideous* about answering e-mail. If you have a question, comment, or concern, the odds are *far* better that I will address it if you leave it on an entry here, regardless of whether or not it has anything to do with the content of that entry.
Now, since we clearly have abandoned some projects, here is a comprehensive list of *every* in-progress fanfic on the page. After that, you will find a list of all the original fiction that has been posted on this Livejournal, with links, so those of you looking for the original fiction can peruse and catch up.
Before I Wake (Tokyo Babylon) – Now, this one is a conundrum. I stopped writing the X fandom a long time ago, because let’s face it: a lot of the people in the X fandom are total bitches and the wank there is dangerous. For serious. I would like to finish this fic someday, but to be honest I don’t know if it’ll ever happen. Here’s the problem with it: I know where I am, and I know where I’m going, but have no idea how to get there. Let’s face it; this fic is basically a dark version of Reversal. Subaru manages to move in with Seishirou and then has to convince Seishirou that he loves him. …which would be easy if I was writing softy!Seishirou, but BIW has mostlycanon!Seishirou. For a while I had kicked around the idea of just writing the last couple chapters the way I had intended them, so at least people would know how I meant it to end. Any takers on that idea, or would you guys rather I just finish the damned thing or let it die?
Though I Walk Through the Valley (Yami no Matsuei) - I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL FINISH THIS SOMEDAY. *cough* There is a chapter of it in this update~! Yes! Amazing! It's kind of a short chapter and I still have no idea how all these pieces add together or where I'm going. Yay? BUT I WILL FINISH IT. Because I like it. ^_^ Just ignore the fact that I hadn't posted a new chapter in two years.
Where Will You Go (Yami no Matsuei) - Oh, man. This fic was such a good idea, but it tortured me. I'd love to say I'll continue it, but in all honesty the odds aren't good. I have no idea how I was going to resolve it or what I was going to do with it, and when I reused the idea of a story about a brothel in Any Other Name, I just about killed any lingering inspiration I might have had on it. Bad Kouri. Sorry, folks, but it's probably best to consider this one dead.
One Way Mirror (Weiss Kreuz) - this one is all Karasu's, and time and life have proven that Karasu on her own never finishes anything. I sincerely doubt there will ever be more of this.
With Friends Like These (Weiss Kreuz) - let me sum up the problem on this fic. Karasu and I RP a lot. And then later I go back and stick in prose. This means that we don't have to be together whenever we want to write, but it does create some extra work for me. Prosing a scene can take me anywhere between an hour to several evenings worth of work, depending on the scene. We RP for every story we write. I've got RPs to do for FIG, for Borders, for just about damned near everything. I have - no joke - eighteen RPs basically in a row to do for this fic. I simply haven't had time. ......also, in the intervening two years, I've forgotten the plot. Methinks I need to reread it. However! We do have a ton of material done on this story, and we *do* plan to finish it someday! I swear to God!
No Such Place as Home (Fruits Basket) - I liked this fic. Really. But the more of the manga I read and/or heard about, the less I wanted to work on it. I'm beginning to realize that anime!Shigure and manga!Shigure really have nothing to do with each other. However, I think that NSPaH works pretty well as just a three-chapter fic, and so I think I'm content to let it rest as it is, given that the odds are good I won't ever write another word of it. ^_^;;;
Skewed Views (Gundam Wing) - AHAHAHA why are people still asking about this? No chance. We haven't worked on this one in almost five years, and frankly it wasn't that great to begin with. Sorry.
Anywhere But In Between (Harry Potter) - ah, good old catharsis. This fic is a quandary. Simply put, Karasu likes it a lot more than I do. This means that she will probably eventually hound me into finishing it with her. It just won't be soon, or quickly. But if you liked it, hold out hope - there will probably be more of it.
Harry Potter and the Dementor's Kiss (Harry Potter, duh) - sadly, we lost interest in this one when we started ABIB. Okay, maybe not sadly, as this fic kinda sucked the root. This one is done.
Awakenings (X/Kenshin) - I'll just put it this way: I wish Karasu had never talked me into starting this one. It's dead.
Original Fiction!
Here's a brief summary of what was up on the original fiction page before we moved it here:
And I Will Touch the Sky - This is in process of a rewrite. It is not available for anyone, but hopefully we will get it published and then you can all have it. ^_^
Borderline - available here. (If you haven't been friended yet, remember that you won't be able to read it!) This is complete!
Fallen Into Grace - available here. Complete!
Fast Falls the Eventide - available here. (It's out of order, sorry!) Complete!
From the Shadows - this is being edited for submission to a publisher, and thus is not available.
Nothing But Death - available here. This sort of trailed off into nothingness (ha ha), and while there may someday be more of it, since it's just shorts, we aren't too worried about it.
Separate Selves - available here. (In reverse order, sorry.) Complete!
Stained Glass Windows - when we started rewriting Touch the Sky, we took this one down and stopped writing The Ties that Bind because we were creating massive inconsistencies. They should be back up someday, but don't look for it to be any day soon.
The End - available here. (In reverse order.) Complete!
The Ties that Bind - as stated above under SGW, this is on hold until the rewrite of Touch the Sky is done.
When You Were Mine - despite its popularity, this is not available, as I will be sending it to publishers just as soon as I figure out where I put my spine and my guts.
Here is the original fiction that we have been posting since we started this ficlog, and a brief description so you can decide what you want to read first, if you're just arriving here.

re-readread a YnM fic from you in... years. And I must now devote my time to re-reading the fanfic because I really don't remember what that fic is about. I AM SO GLAD THAT CHAPTER IS POSTED. MY HEART IS OVERWHELMED.*takes this opportunity to point at Khalin and llaaauuugghhh* Although, you know. I would so totally give up the ability to fire a gun to own ass at chess. >_>;
HOMG! This post makes me soooo happy. ^______^ But you know, there was a lot of stuff up here I've never even heard of. .___. I think I may need to go back and brush up on my obsession. Or, you know. >____>;
FIG. Hart you. Lots. ♥
I am loving the Naruto and Firefly drabbles, despite not having read them yet, because they have Gaara and Simon. But not Gaara/Simon, because...uh...ergh...let's stop that train of thought before it leaves the station. o__O
The new layout is very pretty, by the way. I <3 that picture.
Maybe 'cause we hadn't done it in years! =D

Wow. I think you just killed my brain. XD
The new layout is very pretty, by the way. I <3 that picture.
Aren't they the smex in that picture? I have it on my wall. ^___^
Also, I uh, love you guys in a weird and silly way, and if I could, I'd mail you cookies and love
and rainbows and unique snowflakes and.In regards to what to do about some of the lingering stuff, I think you guys know by now, if you write it, I'll read it, pretty much. I'm sort of behind on some stuff (coughAONcoughCBcough) but you know, I sekritly think that I'm waiting for them to wrap up so I can stop having heart attacks and know that I can finish the book. But so, yes. I'm all for you finishing anything you can motivate yourselves about,
taking down the bitches of X wankor even just saying "hey, we might not ever flesh this out into prose, but here's what'll happen at the end/how we would have wrapped it up".If I ever had one, I'll send it to you. ^_^
And in response to the new layout: asdlkfjasdlkfjaslf;'faskdjf. Hotness. (That's right, Kamui, no one likes you except for Keiichi.)
They are totally the smex in that picture. Although, I liked the Kamui layout, too.

I hate to tell you this, but neither of them are going to be finished *that* soon. It'll probably be at least six more months for the both of them. ^^;;
But so, yes. I'm all for you finishing anything you can motivate yourselves about, taking down the bitches of X wank or even just saying "hey, we might not ever flesh this out into prose, but here's what'll happen at the end/how we would have wrapped it up".
Cool. P'raps I'll do that then. ^_^
</ramble>
Though, I will miss "Where Will You Go." I love seeing Muraki interact with Oriya.
Thanks for such a comprehensive update. Tis much appreciated. You guys are awesome prolific, consistent authors. Thank you, thank you for sharing.
Given that I only own the manga in Japanese and thus can't read it, I'm right with ya there. ^^;;
Thanks for such a comprehensive update. Tis much appreciated. You guys are awesome prolific, consistent authors. Thank you, thank you for sharing.
Hee, thank you for saying so. ^___^
I admire the way you guys can write multiple stories at once and get out chapter after chapter each week. I find when it's not NaNo that I have trouble doing that, and I'd really like to learn. What's your secret? Angels from above? Sheer bloodymindedness? ;P
Ahahaha, that trilogy should keep you busy for a while. XD

Seriously? I have no life, and no hobbies. I come home from work and sit down at my computer, and either write, or proofread/edit/re-read. Or play stupid computer games. I have stubbornly resisted getting sucked into World of Warcraft because I'm afraid I wouldn't write anymore if I played it. But honestly, if I'm not writing, I'm bored. It's something I enjoy very much, so unless I'm blocked on something, generally speaking, making myself do it is no chore.
As for the co-authored stuff, Karasu and I get a lot of that done by roleplaying over AIM. That's something we can do while we do other stuff like read, play computer games, eat, et cetera, so we don't really have to be in a writing mindset to do it. It's only when the RPs get backed up by the assloads that it winds up making us behind.
Also, I've found that having the schedule is very helpful, because if I'm sitting around on a Saturday being lazy, I can tell myself "Bitch, you have to convert that RP in Borders to prose or else you won't be able to post Monday!" ......and then generally, I do it. Although I may whine a lot first.
As for having multiple stories, that is *key*. We're working on about a bazillion projects right now, so there's always *something* we're in the mood for. Don't want to work on FIG? Bored with Borders? Okay, haul out something else! Having a ton of things on the burners makes sure that no matter what we're in the mood for, we'll always be able to write something.
Whew, sorry to be long-winded there. Hope that helped some. ^_^
Will go finish reading CB now.
And don't worry about not being able to update all the time. Writing takes time, writing with someone else takes more time . I should know.
Even though I remember it pretty well, I think I'll go reread this fic now, to celebrate the update. Rare and exquisite pleasures like this need to be savored :)
It's a pity Where Will You Go is unlikely to be completed, because it was the only story that made me interested in Muraki/Oriya but I understand your reasons. And the most important news to me is about Though I Walk through the Valley of Death and With Friends Like These. I'm so happy to hear these two stories will be finished!
Y'know, we did for a while, but I *hate* having unfinished projects, so I've got to at least try. ^^;;
I can't remember the title! Sorry! Am just wondering if you'd ever re-release / publish that, loved it very much :)
Read it back in um ... a few years back.
Also, Before I Wake is the bestest plot to ever hit TB/X fic. *g* It'd be cool if you ever continued!
Cheers :)
I'll do my best on BIW! It helps to know that even one person is waiting for it. ^_^
Haha, now I'll have to re-read the entire YnM story, but that's ok because YnM is one of those fandoms you can go back to years later and still love it like nothing else.
Though, I'll have to re-read CB too, because I sure as hell don't remember wheelchairs. I'm sure they're hidden somewheres in that 70 chapters. :)
Marriage proposals? I don't think that'd be legal, even.
Hey, we do have a few male readers. We also have a few readers who live in Massachusetts, so it might be legal. ^_^
I luv Oriya so hardcore. I totally choose him :P
ANYWAYS, nice to see an update over there :) So nice to see a new front pic- Kamui looked so forlorn, standing there for so many years, all alone. Now he can go... nowhere. Because CLAMP is basically never doing another installment of X, ever. Not that I blame them.
Hey, if I can finish my stuff, maybe someday they'll finish theirs. *snrk* I've heard about 80 different stories about why CLAMP had stopped doing X/99, and I used to care, but in all honesty I stopped reading after X16 (super!wuss over here, heh), so I don't particularly care if they never finish it. ^^;;
Thanks
Er...Sorry for the incoherent raving. The two of you have really written an astounding amount; it's really very impressive!
I did love WWYG, and if I got an idea on what to *do* with it, I might continue it, but honestly, I haven't got any and I'd rather let it die than try to write it half-assedly and put out stuff that sucked, heh. ^^;;;
*stares in utter disbelief* The...the site! The actual KnK fics SITE! It's been updated! Oh my goodness! It's amazing! *dances* And...AND A CHAPTER!? OF A FANFIC! A YAMI FANFIC! I'm overjoyed!!
^__^ You guys have done a lot!
I look foward to checking out the newly updated site, the layout looks great and I'm excited! :) This is going to be really helpful to a lot of people...so, all I can say is: You guys rock!!
Oh, and, will you marry me? :D
(...what?Yyou SAID marriage proposals were aloud...nya :P)
And then I continued reading your entry and wanted to cry and yell out in pain when you said it was best to consider Where Will You Go as being dead. Your the oooonnnnllllyyyy person who rights perfect Muraki x Oriya *sobs* I figured it was probably dead when you started AON...but....I was still trying to delude myself....I still am, actually....
For some reason, I can never remember which story goes with which title... for example...This Fate We Choose..I was staring at that title for a few minutes thinking "okay..I've heard of this story before...but...which one is it? Have I read it? Is it up for people to read?" ...and then I felt really stupid once I figured it out. I think CB, AON, and WYWM are the only stories I really know by name. (Yeah, Fast Falls the Eventide, From the Shadows, The End....no idea which one is which...) Which is just sad. I seriously need to make a list of all of your original fiction, (and then try to figure out which is which) and type it all out and print it off, and tape it to the side of my computer for reference...
Although if you happen to have that page from your website saved (not the actual stories, but just the descriptions of all of them) that would be great.
And…and…I’m sure I had a billion more things to say, but I can’t think of them at the moment…
…so in conclusion…yay!
One thing though... When I go to the Fallen into Grace tag section, even after going 'earlier' it only shows up to chapter 2. So I'm wondering where the prologue and chapter 1 are...? Is it just me/my computer being weird, or what?
Much love as always.
